DuPont Announces Another Expansion Of Adhesive Production Capacity

On May 17, DuPont Mobile & Materials announced that it will invest US$5 million in capital and operating resources in manufacturing plants in Germany and Switzerland to increase the production capacity of its high-performance automotive adhesives. Relevant officials said that this investment will expand production capacity to cope with the growing demand for advanced mobility solutions for automotive electrification. They added that new equipment has been delivered and installed, which will increase manufacturing capacity and speed up the delivery of product samples to customers.
As early as April 20, DuPont also announced that it would invest approximately US$30 million to build a new production plant in Zhangjiagang City, Jiangsu Province. The new plant will produce adhesive products for customers in the automotive industry to meet the two major development trends of automotive electrification and lightweight. Construction of the plant will begin in the third quarter of 2021 and is expected to be put into operation in early 2023.
In addition, DuPont has built a new adhesive production plant in Utsunomiya, Japan, to support the development of automobile electrification. DuPont will produce BETATECH™ thermal interface materials, BETAFORCE™ TC thermally conductive adhesives, BETAFORCE™ composite adhesives and BETAMATE™ structural adhesives at the plant.
According to EV Sales data, in the first quarter of this year, global sales of electric vehicles reached 1.128 million. It is estimated that global electric vehicle sales this year may exceed 5 million.
