How to choose flexible rubber joint

Jan 11, 2021

Water pumps are used in different environments, and the flexible rubber joints used are also different. We will select the appropriate flexible rubber joint material according to the different media used.

A water pump is a machine that transports or pressurizes liquids. It transfers the mechanical energy of the prime mover or other external energy to the liquid to increase the energy of the liquid. It is mainly used to transport liquids, including water, oil, acid and alkali liquids, emulsions, suspension emulsions and liquid metals.

When the medium in the pipeline is ordinary water, we can use natural rubber pipe joints, that is, when the pipeline temperature reaches 80 degrees or below 80 degrees, we can use natural rubber. When the pipeline medium is seawater or the temperature is 110 degrees, EPDM rubber can be used because its comprehensive performance will be better.

When the pipeline passes through high-temperature media, we have to consider other factors. Usually, fluorine rubber, silicone rubber and EPDM rubber joints are used because they all have high temperature resistance. When using flexible rubber joints in desulfurization pipelines, flexible rubber joints made of wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant or special materials should be used.

When our pipelines are oily media, we usually use nitrile rubber materials for flexible joints. Oil-resistant rubber joints require us to select and use rubber materials according to the characteristics of the product. Generally, rubber will melt into oil when it meets oil, which will damage its structure and affect its service life. The flexible joint made of oil-resistant rubber material is safe to use. It will not fuse with oil, which can extend its service life and safely transport oily liquids.
